It is the course description of "English IV" in a US High School:
In addition to preparing for the ACT, students will engage in analysis of primarily British Literature –with a focus on ***tow “anchor” texts***: Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Orwell’s 1984. Students will also produce analytical essays in which they show how the various literary elements used by Shakespeare, Orwell, and others reinforce basic themes and motifs. Students will also be required to produce expository, compare and contrast, and argumentative essays. These challenges will prepare students for a required research paper, an argumentative, four-to-six page paper. Finally, an on-going grammar review will prepare student for both the ACT and the challenges of college-essay writing.

: No, en el ámbito y registro literario, o la pedagogía literaria, no se usaría "textos ancla", o al menos yo no lo he oído ni he visto escrito en nada de lo que he leído, ni en nada de lo que leí en la Facultad de Filología Hispánica de la Universidad.

También, siguiendo al maestro Lázaro Carreter, "Cómo se comenta un texto literario" (cito de memoria, ahora) "comentarios de texto" es una frase bastante usada. Así, "dos obras para comentario de texto" sería otra opción conceptual bastante adecuada, en mi opinión.

Aquí incluyo una muestra:
Lo vemos analizando una palabra, persiguiendo sus antecedentes o sus formas en otras lenguas romances, investigando variantes, interpretando un giro o una peculiaridad fonética. Y cuando habla de un autor, siempre hace, sobre todo, un "[***]comentario de texto[***]". De ahí la calma, la minucia, los pasos contados, el recreo, la alegría del que muestra a los estudiantes la perla de un hallazgo, del que ilumina una conexión, con un chispazo que pone en claro una figura entera o tal vez la continuidad de un género literario a lo largo de varios siglos.
