end wall

Many houses have end walls, typically two, along the opposing shortest sides, perpendicular to the roof line.

Having grown up with an architect father, this is a term I've heard all my life, except that it's actually gavlvegg, or just gavl. (I don't think there is anything called gavelvegg.)
