Tanween written in a separate form
First of all, I'd go for Tanween because the target audience are Tajweed learners who are supposed to know Tanween which should be spelled out especially in such a piece of the provided context.
متتابع
is a description to the way in which Tanween is written according to the Uthmani Script. It is an opposite to Tanween Mutaarakib or Mutataabiq.
In case of Idghaam or Ikhfaa rulings, Tanween Mutataabi` is adopted unlike the case of the Ith-haar ruling.
In Mutataabi` tanween, the two harakat- either double Fat-hah, or Kasrah- are not written in a parallel form. However, the two dhammah are written in a parallel or aligned form.
That's whay I go for
written in a separate form where the lower kasrah- for example- is a bit longer and divergent compared to the higher Kasrah. The same applies to the two fat-ha.
The two dhammahs are written in the form of two separate small waws, but in a parallel manner and aligned manner. That's why I avoided the use of non-parallel or non-aligned because such a suggestion will not work with the three forms of Tanween Mutataabi' (two fat-ha, kasra, and dhamma).

jointed Tanween (Mutraakib) as opposed to disjointed Tanween (Mutatabi)
However, I am not sure whether it is a correct usage for the word jointed as per the case of Tanween in the word ضعافا

because jointed- in my understanding- means connected which is the case only in the Tanween Dhammah mutaraakib as in the word فسق
