Spanish term

sala de juicio del tribunal de protección del niño y del adolescente

Helena Chavarria Oct 25, 2016:
As I understand it, the tribunal looks after a child's welfare and the 'sala de juicio' is where decisions are made.
Yvonne Becker (asker) Oct 25, 2016:
Gracias, Helena. La había visto, pero en aquel caso no se refería a un tribunal en específico
Yvonne Becker (asker) Oct 25, 2016:
Se me olvidó cambiar el grado de dificultad

child and adolescent protection court/tribunal

I don't think you need to translate 'sala de juicio'. As far as I can see from the context, it's about the institution, not part of the building.

In April 2007, in accordance with article 267 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court published an agreement entitled “Guidelines for guaranteeing the human right of children and adolescents to express their opinion and be heard in judicial proceedings before the protection tribunals”, aimed at ensuring effective compliance with article 78 of the Constitution, in accordance with article 5 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and article 80 of the Child and Adolescent Protection Act.

13. With the help of UNICEF, the child protection system now includes programmes, standards and protocols for the prevention and treatment of violence in accordance with international standards. Protocols are available on minimum standards for police work with child victims, witnesses and delinquents. The country applies a policy of inspection and surveillance over administrative and judicial protection institutions. It has established compulsory legal standards for all Child Protection Tribunals concerning the right to be heard and express views, administration of the means of support, the supervised family living regime and the preparation of interviews and technical reports and testimony by children in judicial proceedings.

Courts and Tribunals Judiciary

The family justice system exists to help families avoid disputes as far as possible but also, if disputes or problems should arise, to enable them to resolve those problems quickly and with the minimum of pain caused to those involved.

If at all possible the parties are encouraged to resolve their disputes out of court, for example through mediation – on the grounds that they are more likely to stick to any agreement if they themselves have had a role in formulating it.

When disputes do come to the courts, the cases are dealt with by magistrates and judges specially trained to deal with issues affecting families. These disputes often involve very difficult circumstances, for example relationship breakdown or child contact. Judges and magistrates work to make the circumstances of family disputes less adversarial and hearings can often be quite informal with, for example, all parties sitting around a table.
