Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Spanish term or phrase:
colores serenos
English translation:
sober colours
Spanish term
colores serenos
This is for a VERY VERY fussy customer regarding marketing terminology, that is not literal
and I am not exactly sure what would be another "trendy" way of saying "sereno" other than "serene" or "soft" related to colours for men's garments.
Thank you for any help.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

sober colours
I would think of a "conservative colour" for men...
Or "non-aggressive colour"... or - or - or...
The key here is to have the context, the target audience (old fuddy-duddies or teenagers?), and the men's garments we are talking about...
If you have a picture of that, I am positive you can come up with a good descriptive English term for that.
Good luck!

Hi, Eileen, thank you for the additional data.
I see...
Then, I would probably go with "serene colours", "refined lines and serene colours"...

Hi John, it is for a very well known fashion brand (whose name I cannot share obviously). It is for men between the ages of 25 and 35. Sorry I can't give any more context. |
Here is more context: Dividida en tres bloques diferenciados, ofrece prendas para cualquier momento o actividad. XXXXX incluye la parte más cosmopolita de la colección, con prendas sencillas de líneas depuradas y colores serenos. |
