URA

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
This is patient information on a hospital lab report from Mexico. "Sala: URA". I've found everything from Unidad de Rehabilitacion Activa to Unidad de Rescate Aerea for this abbreviation. I looked up the hospital website and the list of all its departments and specializations and services. There is nothing that fits this abbreviation. The patient is being treated for a heart attack and a urinary infection. He has DB2, and is having an upper endoscopy and a prostate ultrasound, but there was no surgical intervention - if any of those provide a clue.

I have to deliver this translation today, and on two typed pages (12 pages later) it states clearly, twice, that he was admitted to a male medical floor for treatment of his uncontrolled metabolic disorder and his urinary tract infection, spelled out, in those words.

Sorry, it had nothing to do with agenesis. I'm now seeing that the prostate ultrasound report includes a description of the kidneys - both normal.

My first thought was also along the lines of post-anesthesias recovery room. But he was hospitalized for almost three weeks, so I had to rule that out! He had so many things going on, but his main problems were a severe UTI and uncontrolled hyperglycemia. As I'm making my way through these 18 pages, I'm seeing the heart attack was two years ago.

Anestesia I like maohmc's suggestion. While not considered "surgery", I would not consent to an endoscopy without anesthesia.

Agree with Phil: urología Based on context provided by asker about endoscopy and prostate ultrasound. Asker the hospital does not have an urology dept?

The patient seems to have a variety of problems. Maybe if you can narrow down what the lab report (blood tests?) is related to it will be easier to work out.

Or it could be "urología". But there are too many possibilities, and we're just guessing.

It could just be an abbreviation for something like " sala de urgencias y reanimación", especially if he had a heart attack. Just guessing though.

Estuvo con sedación? Hello,if the patient was under sedation, it could be Unidad de Recuperación de Anestesia.

yes, I know but I was tempted by the fact that the abbreviation seems to fit in the sorts of the patient´s troubles

because most medical acronyms are used (i.e. retained untranslated) in other languages as well .
