(circumstantiality/circumstantial) pattern of speech
The patient is afflicted with circumstantiality/circumstantial speech
rasplínuti se - 2. pren. upustiti se u opširno kazivanje, izgubiti se u pojedinostima
ductus - odnosi se na osobine (pisanja ili) govorenja
ductus - refers to qualities and characteristics of (writing or) speaking instantiated in the act of speaking…
discursive (of e.g. speech) tending to depart from the main point or cover a wide range of subjects
‘Normal’ speech can be described as ‘spontaneous, logical, relevant and coherent’; ‘circumstantial’ speech is discursive and takes a long time to get to the point
Circumstantial speech (also referred to as circumstantiality) is the result of a non-linear thought pattern and occurs when the focus of a conversation drifts. If someone exhibits circumstantial speech during a conversation, they will often "talk the long way around" to their point, which can be seen in contrast to linear speech, which is direct, succinct, and to the point. A person afflicted with circumstantiality has slowed thinking and invariably talks at length about irrelevant and trivial details (i.e. circumstances). The disorder is often associated with schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder
An example of circumstantial speech is that when a patient afflicted with this condition is asked about a certain recipe, could give minute details about going to the grocery store, the shopping experience, people there, and so on.
