In this sort of context, 'business discipline' often seimply translates as 'métier' — this is something I constantly encounter in my FR > EN work.
Likewise, there is a great deal of talk about 'maturité' — something of a buzzword, though obviously no better than a direct calque on the EN!

From what I have gathered in legnthy to-and-for discussions with my various clients, the use of 'métier' in FR in this way seems to some extent to have arisen out of a calque on the En term in the first place — be that as it may, the definition of it they use exactly fits the definition of 'business discipline' kindly provided for us by W/A. I think this is just one of those instances where we have to accept that FR has chosen a different (and on the face of it alarmingly generic!) term than in EN — which, let's face it, would not translate terribly well in any slavishly literal word-for-word sort of way.
The same goes for 'mature' — in this field, we talk a great deal about, for example, 'mature technology', 'digital maturity', etc., which I believe is exactly the sense in which it is being used here.
Likewise, there is a great deal of talk about 'maturité' — something of a buzzword, though obviously no better than a direct calque on the EN!

: Exactly the defintion given to me by my major client who uses the term 'métier' all the time in FR; also things like 'applicatifs métiers' etc. / I know that, but nevertheless that IS the dedicated term in the industry, trust me!!!
