Portuguese term

Comprei CAMAROTE para o show da Madonna e não PISTA.

Portuguese to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Vocabulário
Comprei camarote para ver o show da Madonna, mas por engano me venderam pista. Quis reclamar, mas de nada adiantou.

Discussion

Mario Freitas Aug 18, 2017:
@ Jenny We usually vote for the closest one and Katarina explained/added the term "floor" in her explanation later. Plus, the asker can edit/correct the entry when the answer is chosen. It's better than closing the question without an answer.
Richard Purdom Aug 18, 2017:
Yup, something simple like this could be written 'I wanted a box ticket for Madonna's concert, not a standing-room ticket, but i was sold the wrong one by mistake.
Jennifer Byers Aug 18, 2017:
Pois é Agree with Muriel too.
A) why did this get past the moderators? B) why is everyone posting "agrees" when 3 out of 4 of you don't fully agree?!
Mario Freitas Aug 18, 2017:
Exactly Muriel I agree with both things you said.
Muriel Vasconcellos Aug 18, 2017:
Each answer is half right Here's a perfect example of why we are asked to list only one term at a time.

I purchased a (main) cabin ticket for Madonna's concert, not a front stage ticket

Uso em contexto:

"... get a Main Cabin ticket that allows you to pick a seat assignment upon purchase."

Nos EUA, show é normalmente chamado de concert.

PISTA could also mean "STANDING AISLE"

Sim, Cybeles, aqui nos compramos "seats" para o teatro, mas "ticket" também se usa quando se trata de um show..., bem que "pista" normalmente é um corridor que nao tem assentos...
Note from asker:
Seria possível traduzir "pista" neste contexto como "standing room ticket"?
Peer comment(s):

agree Mario Freitas : Yes, except the "pista" tickets are usually standing up, not seated.

Thanks, Mario, I did add "standing aisle" afterwards
agree Nick Taylor : Box tickets not floor tickets

Thanks, Nick, yes, tickets would be a better fit

Thanks itineuropa
agree Gilmar Fernandes : Agree with Mario ref. PISTA = standing, some venues call them GA Floor tickets.

Thanks, Gilmar
agree Ana Costa

Thanks, Ana
disagree Richard Purdom : this is simple conversational English, why is it translated literally? If you read the whole sentence, the speaker didn't actually buy a box ticket anyway, and the important bit is that nobody wanted to know about the complaint.

OK, that's your opinion against six others...
