Dear ProZ members,
I have a doubt about this sentence taken by the recap of a cartoon episode.
一方、離宮では一連の闘いを双子神がチェスをしながら眺めていた…
(Meanwhile, the twin gods were looking at the series of battles in their palace while playing chess...)
What's with that 一連の闘い? Does that mean "series of battle" or is 連 acting as a counter?
Thank you very much!

a series of battles
It means a series of battles. When 連 is used as a counter, it's for "multiple strands" of a necklace/bracelet.
