Spanish term

desensiladora Hartwich

Spanish to English Other Agriculture Farm machinery and tools
No context, as this term appears in a list attached to a dairy farm sale contract. "Hartwich" is the manufacturer. Any ideas? TIA!

Discussion

Mónica Algazi (asker) Oct 22, 2017:
Looked up the "desensiladora" In the Hartwich website, they call it "distribuidora de silo". I wonder whether it might be just "silage distributor" or "silage feeder", as suggested by John.

silage cutter, mixer-feeder

Googling the term, you get pictures of mixer-feeder wagons, which are filled with silage, hay, concentrate, or whatever else is in a dairy cattle ration. In the bottom of the wagon is a powerful auger that mixes the ingredients, and then you drive the wagon along and empty it into a long trough for the cows to eat. They also show pictures of tractor (front-end loader) mounted equipment for cutting silage loose from the pile (in bunker-type silos), not sure exactly which would fit but hope I've given you some idea.
Note from asker:
Thank you for the explanation, John. (This is definitely not my field of expertise.)
I was wondering whether they are actually referring to a "pala desensiladora". Would "silage grab shovel" be acceptable in this case?
