J'ai eu tort de croire que l'anglais était approximatif. Avec la traduction de Florence, la grammaire anglais reprend son sens. Je sentais qu'il y avait anguille sous roche, d'où mon niveau de confiance

Discussion
'a cross is a medium- to-long-range pass from a wide area of the field towards the centre of the fieldThis definition does not fit a 'centre'. Why? Because a 'centre' is not necessarily a long range pass towards the centre of the field.
Only the concept of 'renversement de jeu' can capture the cases of a long-range pass from a wide area of the field towards the centre of the field.
See the second attachment I provided and the attachment below. It is not true that Beckham always produced 'centres' as you define it.
