In some jurisdictions (eg Chile, before the introduction of all-electronic case processing) all written presentations by the parties were stamped at the court to show the date (and in some cases also the time) of presentation. This date (and time) stamp is called a "cargo", and it serves, for example, to ensure that presentations are processed in order of presentation, and they establish that presentations were submitted within any legal deadlines.

In the ST, the stamps are being relied upon to demonstrate that a required 3-month period has elapsed between certain events in the process, hence that due process has been adhered to.
