HP Depropanizer, Acetylene Remova;, LP Depropanizer and Debutanizer
A split pressure depropanizer system is used to remove the C4 and heavier material from the cracked gas stream. Final compression of the C3 and lighter components of the cracked gas and hydrogenation of the C2 and C3 acetylenes and diolefins also take place here. A split pressure system is used simultaneously to reduce the tower bottoms temperature, which reduces fouling, and to maintain a relatively warm condensing temperature, which reduces refrigeration requirements.
Dried cracked gas from the Gas Dryers is chilled against -11ºC propylene refrigerant and is fed to the HP Depropanizer. Normally-no-flow vent streams enter into the top of the column. The HP Depropanizer is operated to meet the ***C4 and heavier specification*** in the tower overhead stream.
