Thanks guys! I agree with your deductions and just wanted to see if you all had a specific term for this, but I believe it is also an ambiguous use of the word to represent the many options you've mentioned....Insert, catch, trap, etc.

I will ask my client what they prefer and let you guys know.

@Charles As I mentioned in my entry, I also think the tool is probably a pig (though not a pig trap, that would be the "trampa"), which is why I think "entrampar" is probably being used as the verb "to trap".

I had also thought about using "capture", but given that pig traps can be used to both launch and receive the pigs, perhaps another way of saying it would be "to retain" or "to secure"? I'm not sure. I get the feeling that the fairly vivid "entrampar" really is meant to convey the idea of "catching" or "trapping" the pig as it reaches the end of the pipeline, presumably at some force.

pig launcher or receiver The terminology in this area is a delight for the connoisseur. The tool in question sounds as though it could be one of these:

"The purpose of a pig launcher or receiver is to insert or retrieve pigs, spheres or inspection tools from a pipeline."

But as for the verb, I really don't know. Perhaps simply "insert"?
