1.0 Introduction
The purpose of this SOP is to provide a clear understanding of the role and
responsibility of the Party Chief aboard TDI-Brooks vessels. The Party Chief is head of the professional science/technical staff. Since the science/technical staff may not be certificated mariners they will have a unique relationship with the vessel crew. The scientific/technical staff includes the Party Chief, navigators, scientists, laboratory staff, equipment staff, and deck staff. Deck personnel may be composed of both ship’s crew and technical party staff, depending upon the nature of the work and expertise required. Additionally, TDI-Brooks often will have contractors aboard to vessel as technical experts and/or client representatives and they will be the responsibility of the Party Chief.
