Law (general)
police report
I am translating a legal notice in British English . The person being investigated attacked a man with "strumenti atti ad offendere". I think "instruments suitable to injure" is the closest translation.

Italian term (edited):
strumenti atti ad offendere
Selected
offensive weapons
Not wishing to offend by diversifying de novo into Italian, I am sure that instruments, included bladed, are classed as offensive weapons in the law of England & Wales (and possibly the rest of the UK).
Example sentence:
That's an offensive weapon, that is. Questa è un'arma atta a offendere.

: It could mean "likely to", ie that is their primary purpose, but we don't have enough context.

Thanks. the problem is almost always context!

: penso che "likely to" abbia un significato più volontario, atto a offendere significa soltanto che possono provocare danni/servire da arma "impropria"
