German term

Zirkumferenz

German to English Medical Medical: Health Care MS
From the progress report of a patient with MS.

The whole sentence: Ausgeprägt spastisch-ataktisches Gangbild mit Zirkumferenz rechtes Bein und Streckspastik linkes Bein.

Completely at a loss here. The obvious translation, circumference, doesn't seem to make any sense here - at least none that I can see.

Thanks for your help, as always!

Done :-))

Quite. The more I appreciate it when you Mediziner help us non-Mediziner when we are baffled yet again! :) Suggest it as an answer, so at least I can give you some points!
Anne Schulz Apr 15, 2019:
Bettina Grieser Johns (asker) Apr 15, 2019:
@ Anne Thanks, Anne, THAT makes sense! If I had a penny for every time I need to find out what these errors actually mean....
Anne Schulz Apr 15, 2019:
Ich glaube, hier ist am ehesten "Zirkumduktion" gemeint.
Bettina Grieser Johns (asker) Apr 15, 2019:
@Maja Thanks, Maja, but I'm not sure - in the example you've given, it just means that CMN, whatever that is, goes around the whole of the left hand - but what goes around the leg when we're talking about a pathological gait? It just doesn't make sense. Unless the spasm goes around the leg? I'm grasping at straws here.

circumduction

Ich vermute, dass es sich um einen Fehler handelt und eigentlich Zirkumduktion des Beins beim Gehen gemeint ist.

circumferential

"... circumferential of the right leg ..."

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282452435_Applying_...

" 5-year and 6-month-old girl with CMN that was nearly circumferential of the left hand and wrist ex-cept for a less than 1-cm strip on the ulnar aspect (11 × 6 cm) (Fig. 1A) ..."

... I added this particular example as to show how "circumferential of the left hand" would look like, so it might just also be the same in your case
