Spanish term (edited): curar un negocio
Selected

(Arg.) turn around a business

The text quoted doesn't actually refer to una compañía, but negocios that in Spain mean shops, otherwise partnerships or sole (BrE) trades/ (AmE) proprietorships.

Cure as a translation in this case shoud be avoided as coincides with the continuing 'revival' of interest in the British pop & rock group called the Cure.

Thanks and gracias, Biged Senior. Coincidentally, I was once invited to join such a business turnaround and legal consultancy venture in London.

neutral Francois Boye : So what's the difference between turning around and transforming a company?

Turn around is to put on a different and better course. Transform a company is ambiguous as could mean 1. change the structure & image out of recognition or 2. is 'franglais' for convert into a different kind of entity like a partnership or public corp.

heal

I believe it's a metaphor, referring to them as if they were "ill".

restructuring of a company

I agree the source term in Spanish is a metaphor for healing but it is not normal to talk about healing a company in English. At least, I couldn't find a single hit in Google for healing a company here in the UK.

Restructuring is the corporate management term for the act of reorganizing the legal, ownership, operational, or other structures of a company for the purpose of making it more profitable, or better organized for its present needs. Other reasons for restructuring include a change of ownership or ownership structure, demerger, or a response to a crisis or major change in the business such as bankruptcy, repositioning, or buyout. Restructuring may also be described as corporate restructuring, debt restructuring and financial restructuring.

Thank you, Boryana.
neutral Sergio Kot : You may want to try googleing "healing a business". There are precise Spanish equivalents to both "restructuring" and "company". Coming from Argentina, "negocios" definitely means either shops or business.

neutral Domini Lucas : apologies but I think restructuring is too narrow and specific for the context

neutral AllegroTrans : One method yes, but I see the source term as more generic than that

fix or revive them

You also talk about reviving a business. So, this too I believe would be a possible alternative.
Peer comment(s):

disagree AllegroTrans : These are not industry terms and are ambiguous
