Spanish term

futurible

Spanish to English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. Feminism
From an acaemic article on the current state of feminism and feminist music, written in Spain:

"El feminismo ha entrado de lleno como huracán para redefinir lo político, lo social, lo ***futurible***."

"El feminismo está superando sus trabas simbólicas, yendo más allá de lo meramente simbólico, cuestionando la representación y lo material, pujando por ser inclusivo, ***futurible***, híbrido, colectivo y específico."

Thanks!

you're really asking two different questions here so I will give you 2 options
Muriel Vasconcellos Nov 8, 2019:
Meaning is clear Since the cognate exists in English (though rare) and the meaning is clear to the reader, I think it's more effective to use it, rather than try to capture the idea in an awkward phrase. It's a marked word in Spanish, so it should be equally marked in English.

futurable

While it's still a neologism and hasn't made its way into recognized dictionaries, it's nevertheless a word that's being used in English. See:

neutral neilmac : Used it may be, but I abhor this kind of neologism and prefer to seek alternatives rather than kowtowing to what I perceive as faddism.

I studied translation under Eugene Nida, who emphasized "dynamic equivalence." The idea is to create the same effect in the target language. I'm not in favor of a standard journalistic style for all translations; I try to adapt to the author's style.

Spanish term (edited): (lo) futurible

forward-looking (thinking)

David H. is right about 2 different contexts. So a change in 'clairvoyant' perspective is needed.

agree neilmac : I much prefer this :)

Thanks.I would have thought that forward-looking and futuristic are obvious alternatives in non-Spanglish.

what could become a reality/potential

Los traduciría de distinta manera.
En el primer caso de futurible pondría la primera mitad y en el segundo caso, "potential". Me parece lo más seguro.
