@Chris "...bifurcation stenting..., i.e. a "culotte" type stent with ... a reduced-diameter and/or shorter branch off it"?

Of course, I do not know if "branch" fits your context, because you did not provide much information, but what you quote from Bourth is pretty much what I was trying to say – and, to be honest, I don't think that Bourth's input supports the assumption of a reduced-diameter section in a linear stent. Even if the aortic bifurcation is not involved in your case (as you said), this could still be a prosthetic branch keeping the lumen of a renal artery or suprarenal artery open, if these tributaries happen to be involved in the aortic aneurysm. But if in doubt, you could still use Drmanu's "part" which can be interpreted as a branch as well as a section.
Bashiqa (asker) Jan 3, 2020:
@ Anne Smaller yes, but unless I`m mistaken, not a branch as such. Just a smaller diameter section.
Anne Schulz Jan 3, 2020:
FWIW, This is pretty much what I wrote in my answer.
Bashiqa (asker) Jan 3, 2020:
@ Liz I did get following from Bourth who is a reliable contact.
Connected with bifurcation stenting (qv on Google), maybe,
i.e. a "culotte" type stent with a "main part" and a
reduced-diameter and/or
shorter branch off it. Wikipedia tells me there is indeed
such as thing as an aortic bifurcation...
Your small diameter is the same as reduced section unless I`m not reading this correctly.
liz askew Jan 2, 2020:
I don't see how you reach "reduced section" bearing in mind I can find no references to your quoted phrase.
Bashiqa (asker) Jan 2, 2020:
@ Liz Thank you. I think reduced section fits the bill in this instance.
liz askew Jan 2, 2020:
or it could also be

small diameter

liz askew Jan 2, 2020:
I can't find any references to this in French. Are you sure "membre" is not "strut"?

That must have been an automatic translation!😂
Note from asker:
Thank you. This is a document that I am editing and decided that "appendage of the stent" was not what was wanted.
Thank you for your input.

small(er) branch

Depending on the situation, branched endografts are used for abdominal aortic repair; for example, if an orifice of a visceral branch is involved in the aneurysm, or a Y-graft extending into the iliac arteries (where one of the iliac branches may be shorter than the other).

"Petit membre" could therefore be the smaller branch or limb of a branched endoprosthesis (if that fits your context).
Note from asker:
Thank you. However, later text indicates that the extension terminates 3 cm above iliac bifurcation, so not a branch in this case.
