Thank you everyone for your input - super helpful.
Toni Castano Jan 27, 2020:
Totem signs Yes, Jane, I agree "totem sign" might be the most suitable translation for the UK. On this web site they also use "monolith sign". Please don´t ask me what the difference between the two is, I don´t know.

@ Toni I think you are on the right lines but I get no hits if I search for pylon and people with reduced mobility so maybe it is a totem sign which does actually seem to get some hits.... think I may just have answered my own question!

Selected

airport information monolith/s

I'll leave others to post totems and totem signs, though I have a vague )pre-Alzheimers) recollection of havong (mis-)translated this one as an info-booth.
Example sentence:

Airport Monoliths Ref: 9A 020 Available in a range of bespoke sizes and configurations, these elegantly designed freestanding monolith units have been specifically designed for high profile displays to inform passengers of flight and facilities info.

The Information Booth is located on the Arrivals Level, near Door #2. Also, this is where you can find Lost & Found.

Note from asker:
Thanks Adrian. I went with monolith signs but as you were the first to offer an answer.....
