Spanish term

bajada de brazos

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
This occurs in a document from Spain for translation to British English. The document is discussing risks and what the company can do to avoid/prevent/mitigate them.

The risks are listed, with their consequences (my words in brackets to clarify)

(Risk)
• Huelga de los estibadores ("bajada de brazos")

(Consequences)
• Dependencia de un proveedor único para la carga y descarga
Interrupción de la operación con origen en los estibadores
• Parada temporal de la operación
• Pérdida de ingresos
• Daño reputacional / imagen
• Incremento de tiempos de carga y/o descarga

I can find other examples of it but I am not sure whether it is down tools, walk out, go slow.....

TIA

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Yes, this phrase is included in your first reference. To avoid repeating "strike", I'd translate the whole sentence as "Sit-down strike by stevedores".

Go on strike

It's just slang for going on strike.
Peer comments on this reference comment:

neutral AllegroTrans : I don't think slang would be used in a risk document
