English term

not liable for payment in respect of or completion of tenancies

English to Spanish Law/Patents Human Resources
hola, buenos días:

os dejo el contexto:
xxxx is not liable for payment in respect of or completion of tenancies if there is no access to the holiday home due to other unusual/extraordinary events or circumstances, e.g. flooding, snow, forest fire, landslide or the like, regardless of whether the unusu-al/extraordinary events or circumstances were foreseeable at the time the agreement for holi-day home intermediary services or a tenancy was entered into and even if these conditions cannot be characterised as force majeure.

entiendo las palabras pero no el sentido.
muchas gracias

Completing the tenancy = the agreement Assuming all checks OK, arrange to meet all tenants and guarantor at one time on the day the tenancy is intended to commence https://www.landlordsguild.com/completing-the-tenancy-agreem...

This ambiguous drafting cannot be from the UK and, if it is, the drafter is getting mixed up with mortgage and conveyancing completion.

Not very well legally drafted in 'English': at our Madrid law office/ bufete de abogados 'in respect of' used to be our default translation for the preposition of
'por'. plus completion is highly ambiguous (see the first weblink), meaning either conveyancing-like contract completion - elevar a escritura/ formalización (quere: regularizacación) - or determination, so end of the letting.

Yes, because 1. even substandard drafters of legal English would tend to use de/termination for the end of a tenancy and 2. the 'canon of construction' in ENG interpretation of docs. & deeds, namely of noscitur a sociis = 'know a word(s) by the company it keeps' suggests that what is being referred to here is a beginning (AmE: closing = making as masked by the other ambiguous of conclusion of the contract) and not the end of the letting being frustrated (hecho imposible) > *if there is no access to the holiday home...*
Note from asker:
So you think it means formalización and not finalización?
