Discussion

Conor McAuley (asker) Jun 9, 2021:
(Well, I say next year -- at least the process referred to in this question is taking place early next year.)
Conor McAuley (asker) Jun 9, 2021:
It's a fairly basic matter. The ruling being appealed was made in the "Tribunal Judiciaire", the appeal is taking place next year in a court of appeal.
AllegroTrans Jun 9, 2021:
@ Conor Which Court is involved here? I am guessing it is one of the French Regional Courts of Appeal? Or maybe the the Cour de Cassation?

French term (edited): l'audience /de juge/ rapporteur
Selected

Directions Hearing /before a Master/

la mise en état : previously Pre-Trial Review in the County Court Summons for Directions in the High Court before a MAster - now Judge - in Chambers.

Ties up with the other 'avis de fixation' whilst dodging my last ProZ return date or scheduling notice answer.
Example sentence:

Le "Juge rapporteur" est au Tribunal de commerce ce qu'est, devant le Tribunal judiciaire, le Juge de la mise en état. Le juge rapporteur peut ordonner, même d'office, toute mesure d'instruction.

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : They have Masters in France? Asfaiaa directions hearings are before a "juge de mise en état" in France

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Bridge has "rapporteur" as "judge who directs preparations for trial". Thanks very much to all! Apologies for the delay closing the question. "

French term (edited): l'audience rapporteur

the hearing before the reporting judge

rapporteur public has come up a couple of times. Check out the discussion here maybe: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-english/law-general/547...

Peer comment(s):

agree AllegroTrans : Seems correct, but asfaik there is no "special" hearing before the reporting judge, so presumably it's the final hearing, albeit the RJ will prepare his/her report and the final judgment will be delivered later.

Rapporteur public

It might be some kind of hearing in a tribunal administrative
Peer comments on this reference comment:

disagree Jo Durning : i agree with the translation 'hearing before the reporting judge' but a reporting judge is not a 'rapporteur public' - this is presumably the commercial court not the conseil d'état
