Discussion

Conor McAuley (asker) Jun 20, 2022:
Swissbankspeak and/or internal bank jargon, no chance of resolving this one.

Client happy with the work.
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 27, 2022:
I'm waiting to see what happens with this, identical, question, before closing my one: https://www.proz.com/kudoz/french-to-english/finance-general...

My theory is that the document has been written in coded language and in some places literally in codes. We'll see.
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 26, 2022:
I'm going with, "Please execute the following investment instructions (...)".

Not much of the document makes much sense to an educated layperson, so I'm going with something safe and neutral.

Finance people will understand what's going on from the other details.
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 23, 2022:
Loan Going on another document which is part of the set of documents provided, this refers to a loan.

"Subject: RE AVIS D'ECHEANCE avance ferme

Dear Xxxxxxxxxxxx,

Please can you execute the following loan instruction:

(Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy [private banking client's account number]) Please add interest and roll for one month.

(Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) [amount of loan in USD]

Kind regards,
Xxxxx Yyyyyyyyyyy (name of employee of the client)"

The client of the bank (Credit Suisse) is an investment banking company.
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 22, 2022:
More context "PASSSATION NOUVEL ORDRE GL : -

- F+ Augment. - F- Reduction (sic) - F Prorogation - A Annullation (sic)"

Mont. place : Mont. de mutation :

Taux int: [...]"
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 22, 2022:
More context "USD XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Limite :
Valable au : 30.06.20XX Cat. créd : 402

***03.03.20XX - 30.05.20XX***"

20XX is the same year in the three instances.

The bank involved is Credit Suisse (now styling its name without an accent on the "e" in credit).

Perhaps the last line there is a clue?
Conor McAuley (asker) Feb 22, 2022:
PLEASE NOTE Swiss French to US English.

French term (edited): procéder à la remise des placements, CH

arrange for delivery of the investments, AmE

procéder à : take steps to (deliver); 'move' to the delivery of...vs. turning over (hand-over) albeit ambiguous : see the first example sentence,
Example sentence:

Investment turnover is a type of assessment that has to do with the purchase and sale of investments within a portfolio over a specified.

You can transact intraday, or you can opt for delivery-based (investment) trading.

Peer comment(s):

agree AllegroTrans : I fail to see why this is any more US En than UK/Irl En

I - in the absence of any CH-German equivalent, being skeptical at the time about an intangible investment being 'delivered'- could find only US Am. refs to equity & commodity etc. trades delivery https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/delivery.asp

remit the investments

I can't even tell if these are cash investments or stocks. If you can't either, anything that tries to be more precise might end up being wrong.

proceder à = go ahead and ... but you know as well as I do that you can probably leave it out.

Thing is, if you don't know for sure that this is about a delivery of stocks, you can't safely go with Adrian's suggestion. And it's only an email, so the wording may not be technically precise.
Note from asker:
Thanks for your efforts. Problem is, I don't know what context might be helpful. Private Clients division of the bank, of course.
It's an email with an order form (see second "More context" Discussion entry) at the bottom of it. I have two almost identical emails (so far, with 20-ish pages to go), and the second one, in the order form part, has "MARK-UP : X.XX %" and "CLT RATE : Y.YY %" handwritten on it.
Peer comment(s):

agree Anastasia Kalantzi : It could be so, but I was also thinking of something like: to proceed with the remittance of investments.

to proceed with transferring the investment funds

In a credit market, aka debt market, borrowers issue debt instruments of all kinds. Investors, aka lenders, choose the debt instruments fitting their return and risk mix and invest (placement) in them.

Investing in a debt instrument entails transferring the investment funds to its issuer.

These concepts underlie the expression submitted by Asker

I should add 'to the issuer'S ACCOUNT'.
