"Film is Forward"

English to French Other Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Hi all,

I am asked to translate those 3 words "Film is Forward" in a creative way, not a literal translation.

A little bit of context on the above and why the headline is "Film is Forward", since the Film industry is moving forward in another country.

Thank you all, allow me to close this question... I liked "gagne du terrain" so I will award some points for this answer, but you all contributed somehow.

@Alex... Being paid per word, in this case, is ludicrous (charge them a fixed amount or per hour as for any copywriting assignment). If you are doing this to acquire a new client, it is another matter.

Thank you all for your inputs... It is true that this is more like a "transcreation" project for a potential new client who didn't give much more context and was unsure about what they wanted... I sent an email to the PM yesterday telling him that this is not the right type of work for me if I am paid on per-word basis but need many hours of my time to come up with something acceptable or up to what they have in mind.

Le mieux serait d'emprunter au domaine du cinéma des termes/expressions pouvant restituer l'idée : scène (le cinéma saoudien, plus que jamais sur le devant de la scène), performance (une belle performance pour l'industrie du cinéma), réaliser (Arabie Saoudite, le cinéma se réalise), projeter (le cinéma se projette vers l'avant(-scène)), fait le show...

@Alexandre Cela pourrait aussi aider de savoir "qui" s'exprime ici (par exemple, le ministère de la culture de l'Arabie Saoudite, etc...) et comment l'expression "Film is Forward" s'insère dans le reste du document. Vous parlez de "headline", c'est le titre d'un document ?

@ Asker First of all, should we assume this "other country" is not basically EN-speaking? This 3-word phrase doesn't really make a lot of sense in EN, and I think to find a copywriting solution, you probably need to share with us your ideas on what the writer was really trying to say here.
'Film is the way ahead'
'Film in our country is moving ahead'
'Film is ahead of other technologies in our country'
'Long live film'
It might help to know more about the cinematographic context in this country — does it have a film-making industry? Is this phrase reflecting film-making, or theatrical movie presentation? etc.
... and probably some other possibilities that haven't occurred to me yet

Salut Alex, quelle est donc la pensée de l'auteur du texte source ? Que veut-il nous dire ?
Que le film gagne du terrain comme quelqu’un a proposé dans le pays qui n'a pas une grande tradition cinématographique. C'est précisément la syntaxe de la langue Anglaise qui permet à l'auteur d'être court et précis, un élément avec lequel les langues "latines" ne peuvent se comparer. On peut toujours essayer d'être futé-:)
J'espère que "Le Film Roule Devant" ou "En Avant" pourrait te dépanner.
Ou un truc dans ce genre -:)

Comme dit bien Maïté Mendiondo-George, le film gagne du terrain, faut bien trouver une bonne tournure en français...
