Norwegian term

blitt foreldet

Norwegian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
Trying to understand exactly what is meant by this in a letter detailing a dispute between an employee and employer which is subjected to multiple investigations and legal proceedings. The aggrieved reports the incident both to Likestillingsombudet (LDO) and around the same time files legal proceedings:

Jeg valgte å av saken, som ikke var blitt foreldet under behandlingen av LDO, til domstolen.

My understanding is the case was not resolved (or closed) by LDO but would like input from others.

become time barred (U.S.)/statute barred (U.K.)

Another U.S. alternative would be "has exceeded the statute of limitations."
