French to English Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Product description
This is from a description of a women's sweater for a fashion brand. There is no photo and I'm finding it difficult to imagine.

Here is the context:

"Ce pull femme à l'encolure ronde légèrement montante présente un élégant jeu de diminution au col pour plus de structure".

It's a type of drop stitch. AM's reference about crochet stitches describe it as a decrease stitch, while the reference about a knitted sweater or pullover describes a drop stitch or downward stitch at the neckline to give it a type of collared structure at the neckline.

'Decrease stitch' gets plenty of hits; it's just the French 'jeu' or 'detail' part that reduces the results (but there are only 13 hits for 'jeu de diminution in French)! :-)

Hi Jane. I just saw your comment as I posted my answer and I think you are right. Knitting two stitches together is the technique used to narrow the stitches and add more structure.

I believe it refers to a "decrease stitch" - a knitting technique used to add structure to necklines, etc. by narrowing the stitches (usually by knitting two stitches together).
