Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): Peter Shortall, Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Conor McAuley Jul 28, 2022:
My "divided opinion" will do just fine then, haha!

Personally I think the emphasis is very much on money and thus box office take and audiences, but...no but actually, there's also "résultat", which also connotes financial aspects.
FPC Jul 28, 2022:
In fact, I think it refers to both: the public and critics. Neither group was unanimously convinced or approving, but the film sort of worked out in the end.
Conor McAuley Jul 27, 2022:
The clue I think the clue here is "score", which I think means global box office take.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (the film referred to here, methinks): $296.5 million

Dark Shadows: $245.5 million

So, since box office take indicates how a film is received by the general public, and not by critics, you can't say reviews.

got mixed reviews / was controversial

To me it means the movie was a mild success ("score correct") neither a failure nor universally acclaimed. It can also mean it was controversial

agree Barbara Cochran, MFA : Like "got fixed reviews" a lot.

Ok. I was thinking because it deals with touchy subjects or is considered excessive in some way like in here https://audasioux.fr/pourquoi-le-film-joker-divise/
agree Anastasia Kalantzi : Or by the verbs diverge or differ, say, In certain social situations, it's best to maintain the status quo and not diverge.

neutral Lara Barnett : "mixed reviews" is a slight over-translation IMO.

divisive

There is talk of a film that, while divisive for the actors involved, got a better score all over the world.
