i.e. not a fully-fledged hernia but just starting out, i.e. incipient
surgery is not usually the first approach, and a wait-and-see attitude is adopted to see if a full hernia develops

What is a sliding inguinal hernia?
Purpose: A sliding inguinal hernia is defined as a hernia where part of the hernial sac wall is formed by an organ, e.g., the colon or bladder. Thus, repair of a sliding inguinal hernia may have higher risk of complications and recurrence compared with non-sliding inguinal hernia.

A hiatal hernia
A hiatal hernia forms close to where your esophagus runs through your diaphragm. At this point, there is a gap or opening. A hiatal hernia forms when your stomach bulges through this gap. Symptoms include heartburn and indigestion.
