This is a Puerto Rican gentleman that is talking to the detectives in a murder case. the Detectives are Mexican American.

The gentleman is saying that he has come into contact with the other people who are also accused being part of the murder. He is saying that the other two guys are trying to spread it around the prison that he did it and they have nothing to do with it to wipe their hands clean and leaving him out to take the fall.

He is saying to detectives he NEVER saw the victim and never came in contact with him. he does not even know what he looks like. All he did was DRIVE the getaway car.

The Detective asks him why he is saying all of this to them about not coming into contact with the victim, etc.

The prisoner answers PORQUE... PORQUE los pres... tú sabes que en una cárcel se ríe a todos. En una cárcel se hablan los presos.

Is he saying that in a prison, the jail shows no mercy and mocks everyone and prisoners talk?

I am not quite sure.
