German term

Akt

German to English Medical Medical: Health Care Laboratory results
In a list of lab parameters for an obstetrics report. The other parameters included in the list are WBC, Platelets, CRP, Bilirubin and DH. The value given for "Akt" is 30, if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Hi Lirka, well, you may be right, but I'm still doubtful, because it appeared more than once and was not handwritten. In the end, I had to put a translator's note. But I will enter your suggestion in the Kudoz gloss, in case someone runs into a verifiable typo in the future.
Lirka Apr 17, 2023:
HI Barbara, I still think it's hematocrit since Hkt is the standard abbreviation for it in German. Plus, everything else is less likely.

Sorry, I meant to get back earlier with more info on the context, but I've been really pressed for time. It's actually not so much an obstetrics report as it is the aftermath of obstetrics with emergency treatment of a newborn going through drug withdrawal in the first days of life and also being treated for pneumonia and other infections. Maybe that will help narrow it down.

Typo for Hkt = hematocrit

That's my educated guess. In fact, if you think about it, A and H are also similar in shape (in handwriting at least).

See if it fits in the context.

Hb and Hct are important parameters in obstetrics, esp. if there's any major bleeding.

I see hematocrit abbreviated as "Hkt" all the time in German reports.

agree writeaway : Well, you do work in the field and in the language pair. That has to count for something
