French term

méta-composant fournisseur

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng controlling operating modes
Context:
appel d’une fonction ou d’un service mis œuvre par un méta-composant fournisseur, pour effectuer ladite requête de commande ;
- requête d’exécution de transition(s) entre un état courant et un état à atteindre pour exécuter ladite fonction ou ledit service, par mise en œuvre de la logique de transitions dudit méta-composant fournisseur et des composants imbriqués dans le méta-composant fournisseur,

Back to editing patents and this has been translated as provider meta-component.
Should it in fact be meta-component provider?

TIA Chris.

Discussion

Tony M May 15, 2023:
@ Johannes Yet again, you are overlooking the reversal of word order between FR and EN — perhaps it is different in your native language?
None of your supposed references actually supports your erroneous assumption.
Johannes Gleim May 15, 2023:

Mpoma May 15, 2023:
you can get away with this sort of thing... i.e. "provider meta-component", easily in the field of coding and coding frameworks.

However, we are told the patent is about "System and method for controlling operating modes of a system. In this particular case a robotic arm." ... which casts a smidgin of doubt on it. OTOH, when I read a phrase like "pour exécuter ladite fonction ou ledit service", this does suggest to me that we talking about a fairly high level of software abstraction here.
Schtroumpf May 15, 2023:
Par analogie avec composant fournisseur : Voir https://www.ibm.com/docs/fr/mea/761?topic=specifications-ven...
"Le composant fournisseur permet la synchronisation entrante des données de fournisseur au niveau de l'organisation."
HTH!
philgoddard May 15, 2023:
Tony It could also be supplying something itself, like current or data. But this doesn't affect the translation.
Tony M May 15, 2023:
@ Asker So as Phil implies, this appears to be a metacomponent that is in some way from or of (etc.) some supplier.
philgoddard May 15, 2023:
No The qualifier normally goes after the noun in French. Le chat bleu, not le bleu chat.

provider meta-component

Be nice to know the domain: is this about data analytics and related things?

If so, I find a use of this term here: https://medium.com/@prplx/provider-pattern-based-on-reacts-c... :

"It is much more convenient to pass the prop once at the top level to the Provider meta-component and have access inside the children at any nesting level. All you need is to announce the interest of the prop. You could see the usage of this pattern in libraries such as react-redux: ...."

and on and on and on and on
Note from asker:
Thank you. With Tony`s notes and further reading I had come to this conclusion. Title of the patent is: System and method for controlling operating modes of a system. In this particular case a robotic arm.

Meta-component architecture for software interoperability
Abstract:
Most existing software is one-of-a-kind, monolithic, non-interoperable, and consequently, non-reusable. In addition, this software is difficult to maintain, improve, and scale. More importantly, this software is vital to many enterprises and institutions. Thus, enterprises must continuously make trade-off decisions between developing new software and maintaining existing software. The meta-component architecture (Component Mill) presented in the paper will enable enterprises to continue using existing software while providing a mechanism to migrate the software into a format (meta-component) that supports software integration and reuse.
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/890423

BTW: I don’t consider the use of 'dans' being correct, here it looks like "by"
composants imbriqués dans le métacomposant fournisseur, => components nested by the metacomponent supplier,
This makes more sense than 'nested in the metacomponent supplier'.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : You have fallen into the trap of inverted word order between FR and EN — in the absence of other clues, we have to assume here that 'fournisseur' is simply the qualifier for 'méta-composant'

Yes, this is alos my approach, see discussion. Unfortunately you misunderstood my proposal.
