Spanish to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
This is from a text about the work of Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña who works with bits of trash. My question here is really if fierrito is necessarily a piece of iron or if it could be applied to any metal. Also, I am not finding a nifty phrase from the dimunitive in this case (with the others in the list, I have):

Todo tipo de hebras y fragmentos declinados en diminutivo: hilitos, lanitas, palitos, plumitas, fierritos y vidriecitos atrapados entre las pesadas arenas mojadas y las orillas conquistadas por docas, esas plantas de hojas suculentas que resisten el desarraigo de las arenas. El encuentro de la mar con el río, las dos aguas. Dos veces agua, el origen etimológico ancestral de la toponimia del lugar. Ese lugar que da al ver sus basuritas. Y que fueron revisitadas, reversionadas como una vieja canción que brilla en nuestros tímpanos, como el primer Sabor a mí.

Queda claro que la traducción ideal debería ser una serie de diminutivos, con "ironling" o cómo se diga y demás. Algo en este plan:

All kinds of strands [or threads] and fragments declined in diminutive: yarnlings, woolings, sticklings, featherlings, ironlings and glasslings…

Lo que yo interpreto es que son trocitos desgastados, restos informes y diminutos de diversos materiales... en este caso de metal o específicamente fierro/hierro. Le he pedido a la autora más detalles, confío en que responda con más precisión.

es una serie de diminutivos precedidos por una presentación en la que se explicita "en diminutivo":
"Todo tipo de hebras y fragmentos declinados en diminutivo".
Es imprescindible saber cómo se ha traducido el resto de la frase, incluido eso de "declinados en diminutivo" y, por supuesto, los otros diminutivos.

(kebab) skewer

According to the RAE's Diccionario de americanismos, it is a metal skewer used to cook food over a fire or on a grill.

The term is used specifically in Chile.
