German term

Kasko (Vollkasko/Teilkasko)

German to English Bus/Financial Insurance Boat/Marine insurance
I am translating a marine insurance company's website and document templates.
So the context is Boat/Marine insurance.

I have initially translated "Kasko" as "Hull insurance", however, I can not find any other term for "Teilkasko" and "Vollkasko" other than "Partial comprehensive insurance" and "Fully comprehensive insurance".

What are your suggestions for the 2(3) terms?

What are the two types of hull insurance?
Hull insurance helps protect shipowners from the financial consequences of these risks. It has two main types, that is, Comprehensive Cover and Specific Perils Coverage policies.

Kasko - Hull insurance Teilkasko - Partial comprehensive insurance Vollkasko - Fully comprehensive insurance

In the context of boat/marine insurance, "Kasko" in German translates as "Hull insurance" in English. "Teilkasko" is best translated as "Partial comprehensive insurance" and "Vollkasko" as "Fully comprehensive insurance".

Example sentences:
1. Our policy covers damages to the hull and machinery, also known as "Kasko" insurance.
2. With our "Teilkasko" policy, you're protected against theft, fire, and natural disasters.
3. Opt for the complete protection of your vessel with our "Vollkasko" insurance, which also includes collision damage.

Note: The translations provided are widely used in the insurance industry, specifically in relation to boat/marine insurance.

marine or aircraft hull (full hull coverage -> all risks / part of hull coverage)

Strictly speaking, these are three separate terms that needed separate posting.

'Aircraft hull' also doubles - at Lloyd's of London - as fuselage insurance: see the second weblink.Yes. It is worth mentioning for the benefit of high- fliers.

BTW, the Rück/versicherung re-/insurance word does not actually feature in the question, so it would be remiss to speculate that is on or the other.

.. is one or the other.
Example sentence:

IATE: de Schiffskaskoversicherung COM Schiffskasko-Versicherung COM Kaskoversicherung en marine hull insurance COM hull insurance COM

Full hull insurance is also called all-risk insurance. Fully comprehensive insurance is the most expensive and comprehensive insurance // When a ship or other insurable part of it gets damaged during a voyage, while carrying cargo, dispatch, or repair

Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : Vague and confusing; "part of hull" implies only part of the craft is insured, whereas the actual meaning is that only specific risks are insured
