BARRIERS AND DRIVERS TO VACCINATION
Health workers want a formal recommendation of HPV vaccination from the Ministry of Health and several trainings and data on the HPV vaccine safety, effectiveness, vaccine ingredients, vaccine handling (e.g. how to store and care), vaccine manufacturer and types, vaccine’s effect on fertility, inclusion and exclusion criteria for vaccination, experiences of other countries (especially the CIS countries), and why the pilot programme was discontinued in 2013.
They need the aforementioned information from the Ministry of Health, WHO, hospitals they work at, at conferences, and researchers and public health experts from other countries that already introduced the vaccine, research articles in local languages, and vaccine manufacturers.
Health workers want communication trainings form the Ministry of Health to effectively explain vaccination benefits to patients. They also want flyers and brochures to distribute to parents. They believe information should come from illustrative videos and booklets, and should be eye-capturing, and easy to read and understand.
Doctors mentioned that workshops for future mothers and young mothers in maternity wards should include the importance of vaccination. They also mentioned a desire for social and financial incentives for vaccinating such as coupons for groceries; however, such incentives may not send the right message to these mothers if they have safety concerns.
