Spanish term

LSI

Spanish to English Marketing Accounting List of fiscal precincts
Spain/LatAm. If anyone can shed some light on the meaning of this abbreviation, I'd be very grateful. Initially I thought it might be the equivalent of SA/SL/Ltd. etc. in some countries, in some countries, but that looks unlikely as it appears in several headings, such as:

"Exportación Definitiva, Exportación Definitiva Proveniente de Franquicia Definitiva, Tecnologías de Información LSI
Exportación Definitiva, Exportación Definitiva Proveniente de Franquicia Definitiva, Reparación y Mantenimiento de Embarcaciones Marítimas LSI
Exportación Definitiva, Exportación Definitiva Proveniente de Franquicia Definitiva, Servicios Medico-Hospitalarios LSI"

Closing the query But the suggestion so far have been very helpful, but I still don't know what the abbreviation means, sorry folks.
philgoddard Nov 9, 2023:
Well, if that is indeed the meaning, then it's a duty-free zone. Fiscal precinct is translationese.
neilmac (asker) Nov 8, 2023:
@phil No, "fiscal precinct" is more akin to a bonded warehouse or "zona franca", i.e. areas with special tax conditions for export/import goods being shipped. I'm not keen on the term myself, but it does appear in several places, so I'm leaving it as is. Here's an example of use from a local website (admittedly, it was probably translated automatically, but heigh ho). "The commercial port is a fiscal precinct -that is, an area of economic activity with special characteristics-"
philgoddard Nov 8, 2023:
'Fiscal precinct' doesn't sound right to me. Could this be something to do with precintar, to seal, eg for customs?

International Services Act

It would have helped to know the country involved, but if it is El Salvador, this might be the answer:

Informar a los usuarios bajo el régimen de admisión temporal de la Ley de Servicios Internacionales, sobre los requisitos y procedimiento a seguir, para el ingreso y salida de mercancías a una parte delimitada del territorio nacional (Parque de Servicios y Centros de Servicios), donde las mercancías que en ella se introduzcan, son consideradas fuera del territorio nacional, con respecto a los derechos e impuestos a la importación.
Note from asker:
It could be from El Salvador or Guatemala, or both, but I'm not sure. It is unclear from the source context (online platform/software strings).
This seems very likely, thanks for posting.

neutral philgoddard : From my own research, I think it may be El Salvador.

LSI (late shipping instruction)

https://www.hapag-lloyd.com/content/dam/website/downloads/pd...

on p. 4:

Late documentation as per shipper request / Documento y shipping instruction tardio luego de transmision a la Aduana - LSI - Late document and Shipping Instruction after Customs transmission

I presume the code LSI is the same in eng and esp.
Note from asker:
Seems logical; I'll probably have to ask the client (who may or may not know what it means).
