French term

déshydratation globale

French to English Medical Medical (general)
Can anyone tell me the English term for this finding? In French it is a type of dehydration that is both "intracellulaire et extracellulaire" but I can't find the equivalent in English.

chronic dehydration

Chronic dehydration occurs when a person consistently loses more water than they are taking in over a long period of time.

Also, you may find that this term could be translated as:
global dehydration, chronic dehydration, overall dehydration
All of them are correct, but chronic dehydration used more commonly in the literature

There are three main types of dehydration: hypotonic (primarily a loss of electrolytes), hypertonic (primarily loss of water), and isotonic (equal loss of water and electrolytes).

Isotonic water loss occurs when water and sodium are lost together. Causes of isotonic water loss are vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, burns, intrinsic kidney disease, hyperglycemia, and hypoaldosteronism. Hypertonic dehydration occurs when water losses exceed sodium losses.
