@Luis You're right - Asker's "latch shrapnel" (part 5 in Fig. 5) corresponds to the "retainer clips" (part 6 in Figure 4) and not the "release catch".
That's what happens when I start playing Kudoz before my breakfast coffee has taken effect :(

That said, my answer pestillo is based on the function of the part (and its dependency on the 'release catch'), which is evident from the drawing and photos in the source doc.

'latch shrapnel' in Asker's ST appears in Fig. 5 - but in Fig. 4 the same part is called 'release catch' (which is far more appropriate).
