Japanese term

振りなおす

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Computers (general)
I see this term in technical papers but I can't find the meaning at all. What does it mean?

E.g. 重複したリファレンス番号を再度振り直します。

reassign

More of a BTW than an objection to the above, but there are times when the value is not a number, in which case "renumbering" would be inappropriate.

agree Kurt Hammond : Agreed. That is the same as my comment made four hours after the posting to another answerer .

renumber/re-number

重複したリファレンス番号を再度振り直します。
Renumber the the duplicated reference numbers again.
重複した:duplicated
リファレンス番号:reference number
再度:again

The action here is to update the referece numbers that are duplicated with the new referece numbers, so that the reference number would never be repeated.

As Kurt said ¥'reassign¥' can be another answer.
¥"Furinaos¥" can be used for something other than numbers, for example code, index, etc. In that case, ¥'reassign¥' is the accurate translation.
