MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

the Masters and Mistresses of the Swamp

not sure which of these I like best. Hence too many examples.

the Masters and Mistresses of the Swamp

the Lords and the Ladies of the Swamp

the Swamp Masters and the Swamp Mistresses

The Swamp Lords and the Swamp Ladies

Merry Christmas to anyone on the western calendar, espeically anyone nerdy enough to be fussing with ProZ on a holiday.

Thank you
agree Сергей Лузан : The Lords and Ladies of the Swamp, the Swamp Masters and the Swamp Mistresses. Surely they are.

Thank you. If there were more description somewhere else in the story some other variant might suggest itself, but the ones here seem like a good place to start.
agree David Knowles : Don't like the "lord" versions, but the "master" versions are all good! Lords sound too grand and noble.

agree Alexandra Tussing : I like the lords and ladies

Swamperors and Swampresses

Only one quarter serious :-)

Merry Christmas, everyone!
Peer comment(s):

agree Vladimir Lioukaikine (X) : I'd add another three quarters of seriousness to it :-) I just think it's brilliant, this Swamperor (from Emperor, of course) - I just hope it fits the context :-) Merry Christmas!

Thank you, Vladimir. Merry Christmas to you, too.

Thank you, Lale.
disagree Dorene Cornwell : This variant is imaginative. The problem is my Anglophone ear wants there to be only one emperor at a time per large land mass, certainly not a whole bunch in one bog. That's why I had to settle for Lords or Masters.

Dorene, you are correct and that thought occurred to me, too. But can there be a bunch of Lords or Masters in one bog? If so, your version is perhaps better.

Swamp (or Bog) Things

I don't really see the need to have both genders expressly identified. Remember the movie Swamp Thing? Quite an image... I also came up with Swamp People, Swamp Dwellers (wanna be politically correct? How about Swamp Persons :-)

Swamp Dudes and Swamp Dudettes?

Happy Holidays!
Peer comment(s):

neutral Dorene Cornwell : Ummmm, these make me laugh really well, especially Swamp Dudes, but I think this is supposed to be real fantasy, plausibly taken seriously as fantasy, not satire.

I know Dorene, I was probably still winding down from the Xmas party, sorry :-)
