it refers to the time limit in which the agent is to get a deal done if he wants his cut, e.g.
“… Six percent (6%) of aggregate consideration if definitive contract executed within four (4) months…”

in many cases you can safely leave out the “a to” (“a to do období“). Alternatively, you could add “such being” (“such being within”), but personally I don’t think it’s very elegant.

The preposition could be "by", depending on how the sentence ends...
