I'm confused:
The text that I am currently translating is in such a state that it is impossible to tell from the context whether the author means:
1. acquiring party
or
2. party being acquired / taken over
JurLex has:
overnamepartij =
acquiring party
...which it considers a synonym of:
overnemende partij =
acquiring party
(IFRS) overnemende partij =
acquirer
...but is this correct? Is the "overnamepartij" the "acquiring party", or, in fact, the "party being acquired"?

: Other options would be 'acquiring party' (the longer version of 'acquirer') or 'corporate raider', albeit that the latter term clearly has more negative connotations and is mainly used in the context of hostile takeovers.
