This doesn't seem to me to be a particularly technical word. I would imagine one or other of these suggestions or something similar, will do the trick for you.

Foregone conclusion
As the client seems to be "working towards his/her own goal" there is only one "goal"in his/her opinion. In that case it is a foregone conclusion. (also found that one in The Legal Lexicon)
