Stokkenwand is de populaire naam van een wand die uitgevoerd wordt met houten stijlen en bijvoorbeeld multiplex met daar op één of liever twee gipsplaten van 12 mm waardoor een stevige wand ontstaat (i.v.m. het gemakkelijk bevestigen van allerlei zaken aan de muur) die toch goed te stucen is.

De "staanders" zijn van het formaat 38x140 mm of 38x120 mm. De hart-op-hart-afstand is meestal 30 of 60 cm i.v.m. de breedte van de gipsplaten / multiplex waarmee de stokkenwand wordt afgewerkt. Voor het isolatiemateriaal zie bijvoorbeeld Rockwool prijslijst vanaf p. 24.
Wanneer het binnenspouwblad een stokkenwand is, wordt vaak isolatiemateriaal tussen de stokken (stijlen) opgenomen.

"There are some terminology differences and definitely different construction practices between our continents. For me a timber frame uses large dimension timber beams 15cm and more in width joined largely by mortise and tenon joints locked with pegs, or bolted with steel plates.

The joinery you've mentioned suggests "stick framed" building with dimensioned lumber of 2x4,6,8s etc. They are pretty much never notched and are held together with nails."

I am now trying to figure out whether "timber framed or stick framed walls" are indeed being used as synonyms or not. There seem to be good arguments in favour of either reading. If you Google this, e.g., they seem to be two quite different things:

never head stick house as a term until leaving the North and going to Texas, stick house was sort of like LOW CLASS, as opposed to real houses of brick.
Recently TIMBER home to me seem RETRO and are expensive, using finer woods and the timbers are meant to be seen.

What I'm puzzling over is there seems to be a difference between "timber framed walls" and "stick framed walls", but how can I represent these two different terms in Dutch?

Ah ja, ik zie het. Timber framing zou dan vakwerk zijn. Het verschil zit hem er dan in of het hout in de afgewerkte constructie nog zichtbaar is of niet.

Je ziet het verschil goed als je afbeeldingen vergelijkt van "timber frame home" versus "stick frame home". Timber frames hebben dikke balken op de hoeken en bepaalde (ruime) afstanden die de structuur van het huis of gebouw vormen. Het is oorspronkelijk een oudere bouwtechniek dan stick frame.

Bij een stick frame wordt eerst fundering en vloer aangelegd en daarop worden letterlijk stick frames geplaatst die de wanden (binnen) en muren (buiten) vormen. Het hout dat daarvoor wordt gebruikt zijn 2x4" vurenhouten 'balkjes' (sticks) die op 16" afstand van elkaar in een frame worden gezet, doorgaans afgewerkt met gipsplaat. In NL worden daar metalen fames voor gebruikt. Stick frame, ook wel stick-built genoemd, is standaard voor woningbouw hier in de VS.

Nog even een aanvulling: ik heb meer op je omschrijving gereageerd dan op je eigenlijke gevraagde term sitck framed walls. Dat zijn dus gewoon wanden van hout (of houten frames) met gipsplaat of ander wandmateriaal.

Ik was zelf nog niet bekend met die prefab elementen voor timber frames. Maar zoals de spreker in de video zegt: er zijn duizenden manieren om huizen te bouwen en de ontwikkelingen gaan razendsnel.
