English term (edited):
to vault over the other leg
Selected
dépasser l'autre pied
enough speed to vault over the other leg when you plant it
=
gait [gāt] = the manner or style of walking
"to vault over the other leg" = when you walk, once the leg in front is on the ground, the leg that is behind moves in a kind of arc above the ground (= to vault) and is supposed to land preferably over the line where the stationary leg is (= over the other leg).
Trying to move one leg literally "over" the other leg as a way of walking usually doesn't end well.
Basics of physiology.
