In the absence of any additional context, I can only suggest Ringprotokoll for circular log. In data management, Ringliste is used for the cyclic arrangement of data, last item points to the first. Of course, this may not fit into your context...
IDL = Interface Definition Language (source: Brinkmann/Blaha, Data Systems and Communications Dictionary, 5th ed.) which I would leave in the abbreviation.
The I in IDL can also stand for Inheritance, Implementation, Installation... (same source). However, Interface Definition Language is specific to networks.
