It provides an independent way of assessing the same variable being assessed by the investigational diagnostic agent. Standards of truth are used to demonstrate that the results obtained with the investigational diagnostic agent are valid and to define diagnostic performance. Egy konkrétabb példa: „A standard of truth »SOT« is determined based on the interpretation results of the case data by interpretation experts, and the SOT is compared with the detection results of this program’s function for detecting suspected breast cancer (CADe function). Tehát, ha jól értem, diagnosztikai helytállóság (diagnostic accuracy) lehet a kérdés, amihez alkalmaznak valamilyen más, alapul vett információkat, mércét (ami megmondja, hogy fennáll-e az adott dolog, amit diagnosztizálnának a még kérdéses módszerrel).
