In woodworking two types of veneers are used; the face (?) veneer is glued and pressed for the visible top or front side of the furniture and a lower quality veneer (??) is glued and pressed for the bottom or back side that is not visible. What are the names for these two types of veneers?

face and backing veneer
I'm an American cabinetmaker and can only offer US English terms. They may well be the same in UK English.
FACE VENEER - The decorative veneer on the face of the panel; the exposed side, be it wall paneling, furniture, cabinet or other.
BACKING VENEER - The layer of veneer used on the reverse side of a piece of plywood from the face or decorative side.

Hello Selcuk, I don\'t think a blind veneer is the same thing as a backing or back veneer. The veneer you described is placed on the back side of a panel where it is not visible from the outside. A blind veneer, according to the description below, is placed underneath the face veneer.
Blind veneers are glued underneath the face veneer in order to prevent the face veneer (especially curled veneers) from tearing.

: The backing veneer is also sometimes referred to as 'balancing veneer', at least, in Europe.

: Or just "back veneer" (in the UK). And here's a nice UK glossary for the American cabinetmaker. http://www.woodbook.co.uk/veneer_terms.htm
